Homemade Simple Pizza Dough Recipe

Ingredients

  • Flour ( All purpose flour/bread flour)
  • Olive oil ( You can use your regular oil too.)
  • Yeast ( I will also provide the yeast-free recipe here.)
  • Sugar, salt, warm water
  • Garlic powder/ fresh basil/ oregano/ freshly cracked pepper ( This is optional. You can add any of this according to your taste.)

Process

  • Pour one cup of warm water into a big bowl. Water shouldn’t be more than 105–110 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast in the water. If your water is too hot, it’ll hamper the yeast activity.
  • Mix well until fully combined. Then, set it aside for 5 minutes or until you see bubbles.
  • Then add 2 cups of flour. ( I am using all-purpose flour; that’s the only one I had in my pantry.)
  • Add the sugar, salt, and garlic powder.
  • Next, add one tablespoon of olive oil. Stir everything thoroughly until it becomes sticky and takes on the consistency of dough. (If necessary, add extra flour.)
  • To create a smooth dough, move the dough to a surface dusted with flour and give it a thorough kneading. If necessary, add more flour. (A standing mixture works well for this as well.)
  • Pizza dough needs at least 30 minutes to rise before use. Leave it out at room temperature until it doubles in size (this will result in a much silkier and softer pizza dough). After the uptick, the differences are plain to see.
  • Now, let’s roll the dough into your desired shape. You can use a rolling pin or place the dough in the pizza pan and stretch it with your hands.
  • After getting the perfect shape, tap near the edges to make them thicker than the center. You can also fold the edges for this purpose. Use a fork to create holes all over the pizza dough.
  • Now, Graze the cooking sheet with oil to avoid sticking, place your pizza dough on it, and add your favorite toppings.
  • Place it in your 425 degrees preheated oven and wait for 13- 15 minutes, and here comes the best simple pizza dough recipe!

Homemade Pizza Dough Without Yeast

Though dry yeast is easy to find and convenient to use, if you do not have yeast available around you and you need to bake a pizza, then there is nothing to worry about. Here is the best simple pizza dough recipe without yeast.

Process

  • In a sizable bowl, combine your all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. (In place of yeast, baking powder is used.)
  • Take 1 cup of water and add olive oil to it. Then, gradually add water into the bowl and mix until fully combined.
  • If the dough is too dry, add more water. When you have dough in your hands and a clean bowl, that means you did a great job!
  • The best thing about using baking powder is it doesn’t need rising time. You can directly go for rolling after you’re done kneading.
  • Flour the work area and stretch the dough with a rolling pin or your hands. (Be careful not to roll it too thin, as the absence of yeast means it won’t rise. You’ll need to increase the thickness somewhat from the norm.
  • Make a crust around the edges, graze it with oil, fill it with toppings, and place it in a 425 degrees preheated oven for 13- 15 minutes. Here comes your no-yeast pizza dough!

Some Essential Tips to Make Homemade Pizza Dough

  • As flour does not contain much of a taste to satisfy your taste buds, you can try adding garlic powder/ fresh basil/ oregano/ freshly cracked pepper, and if you want, you can add red chili powder, too.
  • Here, we took the least amount of time to rise, which is 25-30 minutes, so it is a must to keep the dough in a warm place. Now, if your room temperature isn’t high enough, place it on top of a preheated stove or oven. This place will be perfect for rise as it isn’t too hot or cold.
  • If you do not have a pizza stone, you might try baking the pizza dough once before putting the toppings and all, just for 5 minutes in your oven at 425 degrees F.
  • Remember to make holes in the dough by poking it with a fork. Otherwise, it will develop bubbles, which is not what you want.
  • Avoid a soggy crust by brushing olive oil over the dough before adding the toppings.
